Well here it is a month into the new year and I'm just now posting.
I recovered from the germ I had before Christmas. We had a nice, low-key family celebration and then proceeded to be hermits for the rest of Christmas break. I liked it!
New year's here and so are all the new things we are doing. I have to brag on my oldest DS first of all! He tried out for all-region band before Thanksgiving and was named first alternate for the trombones. Oh my...to have missed it by one was hard for him. But he adjusted. Then this past weekend, on Friday night we got a call. One of the trombonists had not been able to participate and my son was 'called up' to All-Region Band! Woo Hoo! He arrived at their Fri. night rehearsal and worked on Saturday as well. His band performed after about 8 hrs practice total. It was awesome! I'm so proud of him!
He also had a chair test yesterday and he moved up two chairs spots. He's loving band and I'm happy that he does.
My youngest had been reading like crazy this week. That *always* make me happy. Esp. after we had to repeat a grade due to reading delays. He's set himself a goal of how many minutes he wants to read this week and he may blow past that goal today.
But the best part of this post..hubby and I are off for a get away. We're meeting some of his speaking tour buddies and their wives for a short cruise. It's been over a year since we've been away. Man am I glad my parents are here to keep the kids!
But I still have to take my Bible Study books, as I'm a leader and must be ready for next Wedesday. So...here's to a looooong weekend on the cruise ship, fun, sun and a little work, but mostly time away with my sweetie.
